Setting boundaries isn’t easy.
Whether we’re talking about family dynamics, business/life balance, or professional relationships, it takes work to establish clear lines in the sand.
Just like in your personal life, a brand needs boundaries in place to keep it focused and targeted. It is ok to say NO so you can stay productive and not get distracted by shiny objects. Standing firm in your brand values keeps you grounded, so you don’t get off track and lose sight of your specific purpose and goals.
Do you find yourself saying YES to everyone and then feeling behind and scattered?
Do you never have time in your day to focus on the big picture because you are tied down with menial tasks?
Are you starting to feel burnt out, even avoiding working on your business because it is overwhelming?
If you and your business are suffering from these symptoms, this is your wake up call to establish boundaries for your brand!
In this post, I’ll share three reasons why your brand must develop healthy boundaries and how to start establishing these boundaries. Learn how to stay on track so you can do your best work and serve your best customer!

Doing it all is NOT sustainable. When you say YES to all types of clients, you will find yourself spread too thin and on the fast track to burn out. Instead of saying YES to all people, focus on your top clients, and try to attract more clients like them! To get to this point, you’ll need to do an audit of your current clients. Look at your customer roster with an editing eye:
Who isn’t right for your business because their needs don’t align with your purpose?
Who needs to stay and get more of your focus?
What are the patterns in the customer profile that we want to call out to attract more?

You’re not working in your true zone of genius. When you work with so many different audiences, you are not leveraging your skills and strengths in the best way. In fact, you are actually diluting your power. Instead of doing all the things, identify your expertise and go all in on that specialization. To get there, you’ll need to stop and audit your strengths and skills.
What are my best-selling offers?
What type of content gets the most response from my audience?
What do my clients rave about in testimonials?
This will give you clues on what you should be focusing on when it comes to your expertise.
3. You are overcomplicating your business. Having no boundaries in your brand leaves you feeling scattered, overwhelmed and exhausted. When you are trying to manage several types of offers, products, services, clients, etc, it is almost as if you are single-handedly running several micro businesses.
How can you gain any traction when you’re always switching gears? Instead of trying to manage the chaos, look at your business and ask:
What offerings no longer align with my purpose and goals?
What offerings suck time away from what I really want to be doing?
Can I subtract offers or bundle offers to create simplicity?
Can I go a step further and go all in on one CORE offer?
Boundaries are important to all areas of our lives because they help us set up systems to achieve our goals. In business, they help us grow faster because they keep us focused and protect our energy.
