This opt-in strategy is a powerful way to build your audience and develop a warmer relationship with your network. By creating a new freebie that is laser-focused on your current audiences needs (or improving your current opt-in offer), you can get more leads and subscribers into your sales funnel.
A lead magnet is a marketing term that describes a free item or service given away in exchange for information like an email address.
Lead magnets are not invitations to subscribe to a newsletter but rather something of value offered to the prospect in exchange for allowing future messages to be received from the brand. Think: quiz, template, ebook, etc.
What Should My Lead Magnet Deliver?
1) A small win. What struggle is your audience feeling? Offer a solution to that struggle that’s related to your core offer. This prepares the lead magnet recipient to be a better client for you and inspires them to BUY!
2) Helpful and actionable content. What are some common struggles your audience is dealing with when they first are introduced to you? Offer something in your lead magnet they need the answer to NOW, and something that can be implemented easily.
3) Focused results. Target a specific audience and solve one issue. By getting micro, you’ll convince your target audience that you understand their specific pain points and can help them reach their specific desires.
Why Do I Need a Lead Magnet?
Your audience needs time to trust you. The lead magnet offers a bite-sized interaction with your brand as a kickstart to working with you. The hope is your freebie will offer good value and get your prospect results, so they will be more open to learning about other ways to work with you.

How Do I Deliver the Freebie/Lead Magnet?
Once your freebie is finished and ready, start promoting it on all your brand channels, everywhere possible! One of the most important places is on the homepage of your website. You’ll need to create a form or page to capture the email address and use an email marketing tool like Mailchimp, Mailerlite or Convertkit to deliver your freebie.
Other ways to build visibility for your opt-in are on landing pages, in blog posts, in Facebook posts, through Instagram stories, on podcast interviews, in bios, on promo threads in Facebook groups, on Pinterest, and in your email signature. Share a link to your freebie offer as much as possible! As you can see, the options of where you can share it are endless, and you should make an effort to be continuously talking about it.
